Abstract
As part of the ongoing process of curricular remodeling at the University of La Salle to maintain a relevant and highquality academic offering, the Statistics unit at the Department of Basic Sciences reviewed and updated the micro-curricula of the corresponding academic spaces. During this process, limiting situations were found that led to question the educational purpose of the academic spaces in the area of statistics and its role in the integral formation of students. It was necessary to carry out an exhaustive review of competencies, curricula, syllabi and some global trends in teaching statistics at the university level to finally design a curriculum proposal for the university.
