Abstract
<p>This article presents the results of the implementation of a pedagogical strategy based on reading comprehension to promote mathematical competences in seventh grade students, which seeks to strengthen the reasoning competence in the use of parentheses and the resolution of arithmetic polynomials. The applied methodology is qualitative; it is based on the initial data of external tests and is part of the institutional improvement proposal at the Colegio Pozo Cuatro.</p>
