Abstract
<p>This article describes a process of classroom intervention in order to strengthen professional competencies through the integration of knowledge, skills, and attitudes that serve as a basis for a reflection on what it means to work as a language teacher. According to the above, a competency-based approach guides the pedagogical purposes of this proposal: it explains the role of research as a didactic strategy for the enhancement of academic and professional competencies. To this end, it analyzes the process and results of researches carried out by future teachers studying at the BA program in Spanish and Literature. Thus, it was possible to establish relationships between the academic knowledge of students and the skills and attitudes of teachers who teach their native language.</p>
