Research Teachers: Positions, Suppositions and Fields

Abstract

This paper tackles the following problem: How are teaching and researching compatible? To answer that question, the author specifies the kind of research that teachers can do. As a consequence, the article presents two different positions related to this question: those who think that teaching is a job, and those who think of it as a profession. The former believe that teachers don’t belong in the intellectual field of education. The latter believe that teachers belong in the specific didactics field, the conceptual pedagogy field or the pedagogical knowledge field. The article points out the differences in each one of these cases
