Rural Education in the Mountains: Analysis of a Multilevel School in Tucumán-Argentina

Abstract

Rural Education is characterized by heterogeneity as regards population, geographic location, and various pedagogical formats. The main purpose of this article is to present an interpretative analysis from a social perspective of "Escuela Multinivel Las Arquitas," located in a remote mountainous area in the province of Tucumán, Argentina. The organizational institutional model to be outlined is: a Multilevel School as an alternative capable of guaranteeing the educational trajectories of students. Moreover, the article addresses the particular configuration the teaching job adopts and the challenges involved in socio-educational inclusion processes in a mountainous environment.
