This article presents a review of academic publications addressing the challenges and opportunities for the integration of ICT in rural educational environments between 2014 and 2024. Its aim was to analyze the scientific production on the challenges and opportunities for ICT integration in the field of rural education. The methodology employed adopted a bibliometric approach, consisting of a quantitative analysis of scientific production. This review was based on the selection of 50 documents obtained from various repositories, covering five recognized databases: Scielo, Scopus, Redalyc, EBSCO, and Dialnet. The selected documents correspond to publications made between 2014 and 2024. Subsequently, the results were disseminated through the synthesis and description of the scientific production. The results show that the integration of ICT in rural educational environments faces challenges such as limited infrastructure and teacher training, along with the need for relevant content and technical maintenance. However, it also offers opportunities, such as access to online educational resources, personalized learning, global connectivity, the development of digital skills, and educational innovation, all of which can improve the quality of education.
