Abstract
This paper presents the conclusions of a doctorate research work based on the search of graphic elements that would show the way Afro-Colombians are represented in the books used to teach children. The pictures in three Colombian elementary school social science books were analyzed, in order to determine the presence of discrimination against skin color. Four analysis categories were established (gender, occupation, context and wardrobe), with their corresponding subcategories. The results show the presence of images with discriminatory content in regards to the Afro-Colombian population.
