Abstract
This paper provides a biblical foundation to the phenomenon of Christian belief in current times. It is divided into four parts: the first presents the results of the semantic analysis of the term believe (pisteu, w) in the Fourth Gospel; in the second, an analysis is done from the sociological perspective of belief; in the third, a theological approach is made, based on the characteristics of the community and the implications of this belief in it, and, finally, the last part discusses the pastoral implications and commitment required to believe in the present ecclesiastical communities.
