Abstract

This paper is a translation of the chapter “The Race for Theory,” by Barbara Christian, which aims to highlight a corpus of barely studied African-American authors up to the 1990s, insisting on the power of their narratives, on the role of race, class and gender in their works and on a proper literary review of those works. Nowadays, it is relevant because it insists on consolidating a philosophy of literary review within the context of black feminism
