To Assess is to Understand: Contradictions between Didactics and the Ethics of Assessment

Abstract

The assessment, such as essential element but as discussed in the teachinglearning process, is the main focus of this article. The author part of a retrospective of his own experience as a student and then as a lecturer from the meanings of the evaluative process, to then indicate the aspects on which rests the emphasis of evaluating function. From there, focused reflection in order to ethical and technical requirements of the evaluation pose a number of contradictions clarified with proposals conjugate from different authors to conclude that the ultimate aim should be the understanding of the subject of what and how it has managed to learn.
