Abstract
This article presents the results of a research focused on analyzing the assessment conception and practice that takes place at Fundación Universitaria Politécnico Grancolombiano. The findings prove that in this institution, assessment show features of administrative nature, prevailing control over other aspects. Administrative assessment is, on the one hand, leading University to run its assessment processes taking advantage of experiences, process and instruments with formative nature, and on the other hand, making it continue with the questionnaires answered by students as the solely source of information, from which decisions are made with lax criteria that do not allow a teacher’s assessment focused on specific criteria, which is the case of personal and professional development of teachers.
