Mexican Schools and Citizen Education. Notes for Studying It

Abstract

Urban, civic, citizen or democratic education, as the government’s project to promote certain values, actions and knowledge that children and young people need to know in order to act in society has been indistinctly and often denominated, is a constant source of concern for the governments in office. The next lines list some historical aspects of the Mexican government’s intent to civically and democratically educate the new generations, a task that in different moments has been seen more as a speech than an activity and daily practice.
