Abstract
<p>This paper aims to provide an overview and some considerations about the research in mathematics education regarding use of information and communications technology as educational mediators in teaching and learning of this discipline. The international scenario is described first, followed by the national and local context, including review and results of projects incorporating technology in the teaching of mathematics. The paper includes some teaching suggestions for incorporating technology in teaching and learning of mathematics and, finally, some thought is given to this matter.</p>
