Meaning of Life and Human Transcendence, Contribution to the Epistemological Foundation of Religious Education at School from the Psychology of Religion

Abstract

There are currently a number of issues around religious education in schools (RES), such as religious pluralism and the non-existence of religious beliefs. The purpose of this article is to acknowledge some of these trends and identify core concepts in the study of religion. Particular reference is made to core concepts such as the meaning of life and transcendence, which is not about self-realization, but going beyond yourself, finding a value, a person or a deity to grant the desired meaning on the outside. Finding common elements is, from the point of view of psychology, the result of current research initiatives.
